Surfside Beach, South Carolina

Fishing Pier at Surfside Beach Surfside Beach Pier
Surfside Beach calls itself "the family beach" because generations of families have lived or vacationed in the primarily beach house community.  Surfside Beach was known as Roach's Beach in the 19th century, a business man renamed it Floral Beach after his wife and daughter and then in the early 1950s it was given the name we know today.  The population of approximately 4,800 people have their primary residence or vacation home in this intriguing community.  Fresh seafood can be found at the local restaurants or you may want to catch your own. Surf fishing and the landmark Surfside Pier prompt many to throw out a line or just relax and watch others.
Myrtle Beach and other surrounding towns, are only minutes away so if you think of shopping Surfside is located just south of the Myrtle Beach city limits. The malls, outlets, specialty shops and furniture stores provide the places to run in and pick up a few items or shop-till-you-drop.
In an area known for golf courses there’s a location and skill level course designed to meet your needs.
Surfside Beach Dog and Horse Regulations
Dogs are not allowed on the beach at any time May 15-Sept. 15. Riding horses on the beach is prohibited.
