Myrtle Beach Boardwalk

The Myrtle Beach Boardwalk and Promenade extends 1.2 miles from close to the 2nd Ave N Pier to the 14th Ave N Pier.  The section from Plyler Park to 8th Ave N has cafes, arcades, amusements and more to remind visitors of a nostalgic carnival atmosphere.

 

Local Hospitals are Expanding

Grand Strand Regional Medical Center

Grand Strand Regional Medical Center in Myrtle Beach began the $54 million expansion and will include the addition of  Level II trauma services.

The 30 month project will increase the beds by 50, and expand the Emergency Department.  The new construction will add 71,650 square feet to the building and renovating will be done to 20,995 square feet.


Seacost Medical Center and Loris Community Hospital

North Myrtle Beach, Little River and Longs, South Carolina will soon benefit from their own hospital.

Update February 11, 2010 - Although the websites for Seacoast Medical Center and Loris Community Hospital  had no information about the new construction, I had seen the construction so I made direct contact and was told that construction is ahead of schedule and sometime in 2011 we should see completion for Seacoast Medical Center expansion.

Seacoast Medical Center located at 4000 Hwy. 9 E near North Myrtle Beach has the appearance of a hospital but  was a testing and outpatient facility but that is going to change.  On January 18, 2009 the Groundbreaking for the new expanded full service hospital that includes inpatient rooms and care.  $32 million 63,399 square foot expansion that will add 32 medical-surgical beds, 10 - bed progressive care unit, and 8 - bed ICU.

Loris, South Carolina will also see an expansion of the Loris Community Hospital located at 3655 Mitchell Street.  Their groundbreaking took place on January 25, 2009 at 2:00 P.M..   $18 million replacement and expansion of the ED, ICU and pharmacy.
